Wooden Cross

When Jesus was crucified the nails were driven through His flesh into a wooden cross. But why a wooden cross? Wood is often a symbol of God’s salvation through Christ?
The wood of sacrifice was carried to the mountain top so father Abraham could offer his son.
The prophet threw the tree into the poison water supply and it was healed of its death.
The wood of a tree enabled Noah, at God’s command, to escape the destruction of the flood together with his family and every kind of animal.
The rod of Moses from the tree, prefigured the cross when it swallowed up the false serpents of Pharaoh’s magicians, divided the sea at one stroke and destroyed the enemy and saved God’s own people?
Aaron’s “rod tree”, blossomed in one day to prove his true priesthood, just as Jesus the only Priest able to bring man back to God, blossomed from the dead.
David’s who bore the wooden shepherd’s staff, prefigures the great Shepherd who leads us home.
Friend, on the wooden tree, Jesus was offered as a sacrifice to heal us, save us, destroy our enemies, resurrect us and lead us back to the Father! Thank God for the Tree or Life!
