Pearls of great Price

The gem stone talked about most often in the bible is the pearl which is strange, because in the Old Testament, oysters were unclean animals. They couldn’t be eaten by a Jew but they remind us that through Christ, out of the unclean can come something precious.  Even the gates of the new city or the glorious church are likened to pearls.

Rev 21:21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.

As we know pearls are formed by oysters. Believers are to be like oysters -pearl makers.  God designed oysters to be able to make pearls from  the sand or other irritations that get inside the sensitive tissues of the oyster.  The oyster turns irritations into a valuable pearl.  The oyster releases a substance called nacre, that coats the irritant till the grit is covered over and becomes a smooth lovely pearl.

That what a Christian does. Our perspective is now that all people, all circumstances and even all the past can be turned by God in something good if we release grace and blessing upon it. Believers have some nacre to release upon the irritants in our life. It’s called “blessing.”

1 Peter 3:8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.

As we bless others and even our circumstances, it can be transformed into a blessing for us too.

Friend, the way to make every irritation that comes into your life, a pearl of great value, is to release the blessing that God has put in side of you into the situation you face, or the past, or the person that is irritating you. Create something valuable out of your troubles today. This type of attitude also becomes a gateway for people to enter the church of God
