The Hand of the Lord

After confronting the king of Israel, Elijah ran before him to the city of Jezreel.  You have to wonder whether the king got lost, or the horse got lame but it’s pretty amazing that a man could beat a chariot over a long distance.  But then again the hand of the Lord was upon him.  And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. 1 Kings 18:46.  The hand of the lord enabled him to do what he could not do naturally. To get to a place in his ministry which he could not get to by himself; the place he should have been even though naturally it seemed impossible.

In the book of Acts ordinary disciples with the hand of God upon them, were hugely effective in their ministry and they saw a harvest came in.  And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord. Act 11:21.   The hand of the Lord describes what God does and how He does it when He wants to ensure that His people accomplish His purpose.

The hand of God gave Ezra favor and a miracle.  This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him. Ezra 7:6.   Even if you are in a far off country living under an evil King who has nothing to gain by creating a temple for a foreign God, when God’s hand comes on you nothing can stop you from fulfilling God’s purpose for your life. The hand of God supernaturally enables you to do what you could not do yourself.

When the Hand of God is on you, you are in the spirit. The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones. Ezekiel 37:1. When the hand of the Lord was upon Ezekiel, the Spirit of God enabled him to see things he could not humanly see or know.

King David said in the Psalms The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD does valiantly. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD. Psalms 118:15-17.   David knew that although he had been attacked by his enemies, he was delivered by the hand of God.  When the hand of the Lord is on you, you can get through things that other people could not get through. They may  have gone through the same thing and ended up depressed and cynical.  You can last when other people don’t last.

The hand of God is the unusual release of the power of the Spirit and He wants to lay His hand upon His church today. The hand of the Lord doesn’t comes upon people just so they can survive a bad experience or  a rugged decade but the hand of God comes upon people so they can fulfill their destiny and God’s purpose in this world.

Friend, when the hand of the Lord is upon you can accomplish the impossible, see the invisible and overcome the incredible. It is time to run in the Spirit, work by the Spirit and see in the Spirit. What ever dream or challenge lies before us in marriage, life or ministry to the world, let’s humble ourselves under His mighty hand and see what He can do through us in 2016.
