Although the house was full of religious Pharisees that day, the sinful woman that was bowed down over Jesus’ feet, was the only one who found forgiveness and salvation. Sometimes people will try to keep you from Jesus, but your issue never will. Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”….”Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”Luke 7:48-50. Out of the many that needed mercy, only one got the blessing. She came in gratitude to worship Jesus and she received grace, mercy, and peace. The grace she received was linked to the gratitude she felt. We can’t earn grace but we can position ourselves to receive more grace through gratitude and humility. “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6
This the gratitude effect. Thankfulness attracts His grace and power toward you. Giving thanks and praise is more powerful than asking in prayer. And it is more guaranteed than prayer. You can pray amiss but you can’t praise amiss. We have to meet the conditions of prayer to get an answer from God. But God Himself inhabits our praises and our thanksgiving so while we might get an answer from God in prayer when we praise God, we get God himself.
Everybody prays but the thing that sets some people apart is their thanks and praise to God. David isn’t famous for his praying! Paul and Silas opened their mouth to praise God and God opened their prison doors. Jonah praised God in the belly of the fish and his thankfulness, literally make his fish sick. Jonah 2.9. When Jesus gave thanks for the food, a feast for thousands, came down. When He gave thanks at a dead man’s tomb, the spirit of resurrection came in. They all brokeout in praise before their breakthrough.
Friend, today may be a “fish” has swallowed you. You might face troubles, feel oppressed or discouraged. Perhaps you feel unsatisfied or even entombed -Your persistent praise and thanksgiving can open the fish’s mouths, open prison doors and bring Gods presence into your life. Remember, there is no issue that will keep Jesus away from you. Praise Him!
